Case study: Community Budget Working Group
The Community Budget Working Group has been convened in San Jose, California, for two consecutive years, with the goal of broadening public involvement in municipal decision-making.
To broaden that involvement, we developed an interactive microsite allowing people to submit recommendations for improving the city budget, and for other visitors to then vote on those ideas. Each new idea also populated the group's Twitter feed.
For meetings, we integrated a live video stream with live chat into the site, to allow even those unable to attend in person to participate from home. We also managed press outreach and message development.
